The way Daddy did it is still the way we do it. Though Dad has since gone to be with the Lord, his spirit is still with us when we play.
Rickie Privette: Mandolin, guitar, lead and harmony vocals. Born and raised in eastern N.C. started out playing guitar. Played for several years with his Dad and brother Tommy, including winning a Fiddler's Convention together at a young age. Later learning the mandolin and nurturing a true bluegrass singing voice. After becoming an adult and getting married and going on his own, played with other bands, including leading the Southbound Express Bluegrass Band. Always maintaining his roots and playing with the family often, now becoming a resident of Tennessee and helping to put back together our family band has become an important part of his life. Sharing the love of Jesus Christ and family is atop of his list of importance in life. Then comes the music.
Tommy Privette: Banjo and bass vocals. Born and raised in eastern N.C., and now a resident of the state of Tennessee for 27 years calls it home. Playing banjo has been the focus of his musical talent. "It's the only instrument I ever wanted to play." Playing with Dad and brother Rickie in early years, including winning the Fiddler's convention has instilled a dedication to bluegrass music. Though through the years going seperate ways and doing other things like promoting festivals and recording, and playing with other bands, including Kevin Carter and Full Assurance, the family band has always had great importance. Now coming back together is as good as it ever was. We are all now seasoned professionals in our own rights and it helps us come together better than ever. We give God honor and glory for our talents and salvation and praise him in all we do. God is first and foremost in all our lives. This shows in his commitment also as an ordained minister to preach the gospel as well as singing.
